Vessel Operator - USV

We currently have a requirement for an experienced Vessel Operator to support a soon to be established USV specialist team to support a major Defence USV (Uncrewed Surface Vessel) maritime program.

This opportunity will be suitable for experienced and qualified coxswains to participate as Vessel Operators testing and operating a new build, fast, 12m Uncrewed Surface Vessel.

If you have a background as a watchkeeper / coxswain operating small commercial vessel or in RAN environment apply now. This role will be an initial 6-month role with potential extensions based on client requirements. Due to the nature of this project candidates will need to be able to commit to a 24/7 shiftwork roster and be able to travel interstate on an ADHOC requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate USV’s to high safety standards
• Monitoring and actioning Navy tasking orders
• Maintaining accurate USV operations logbooks
• Reviewing operational risk assessments
• Coordinate with the USV’s technicians and engineering teams to ensure safe and effective operations
• Support USV testing and commission activities

Prerequisites:

• Coxswain Certificate of Competency Grade 1 or 2
• Experience operation small commercial vessels
• ASV operations and ASV Operator Course / Certification highly desirable
• Naval testing and operation experience
• Strong understanding of AMSA regulations and Marine Safety protocols
• Ability to travel interstate on ad hoc requirement
• Ability to commit to a 24/7 roster
• Australian citizenship eligible for a AGSVA clearance
